Level I: 4S and 1400, 90 hours

• Worked on med-surg floors. Primarily focused on the fundamentals of care, such as patient hygiene, head-to-toe and focused assessments, medication administration, and navigating the EPIC charting system

Level II: 1500, 135 hours

• Oncology med-surg. Became more familiar with IV pumps (titrating medication, inputting orders, and hanging piggyback infusions); allowed more opportunities to administer medications through different routes and refine assessment and communication skills

Level III: 1400 and Pediatric med-surg, 135 hours

• Pediatric med-surg floor. Able to implement pediatric specific care such as distraction techniques, calculating caloric and fluid requirements, and communicating with the patient’s parents
• More autonomy working on the transplant floor. Worked alongside CDI rather than following them around; independently conducted assessments, obtained vitals, performed patient hygiene, and administered medications with ease

Level IV: 1500, 144 hours

• Preceptorship. Completed twelve 12 hour shifts on oncology med-surg floor; refined organizational abilities and foundational nursing skills; operated independently under preceptor supervision
