Accomplishments

I am a proud alumni of Canton McKinley High School and I am so glad to be teaching music where I first began to love music. Music literally saved my life and shaped my personality and work ethics. Teaching music is not just about learning how to play an instrument , it is learning how to make lives better. Working extremely hard to achieve something not everyone can do. Learning how to work with multiple groups of people for a common goal. Music is not a "me" achievement, it is a"we" achievement. It teaches us that others rely on us to do our part in the ultimate group project. Music teaches us to see and hear the beauty in the world. I am extremely glad that I went back to school to pursue my dream 17 years after I graduated from high school. There is nothing better than achieving your dreams, unless it's helping others to achieve their dreams.

I have pioneered the Modern Band class in our district and I am looking forward to learning with my students as we do something new. I truly feel it will speak to more students in Canton and bring music into their lives.
