As a former high school track and field All-American (1992), 4 years All-State (Texas); All-Area (Dallas); Who's Who in High School Sports (1990). Had the third fastest time in nation USA Today (1992) 300 Meter Hurdles time of 37.03.

Was highly recruited as a hurdler/sprinter was offered full scholarships to the following universities: University of Notre Dame, University of Miami, Florida State University, University of Texas at Austin and many more. Signed a full Track & Field scholarship with the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Competed in the following events: 400 Meter Hurdles; 110 Meter Hurdles; 400 Meters; 1600 Meter Relay and Distant Medley Relay.

Also was a member of the All-Army Track & Field team for six years while serving for 21 years in the Army.
