28 Year veteran of nursing with knowledge of many parts of hospital care. I am hardworking and passionate about making my hospital an exceptional place for patients and healthcare providers. I am capable of managing multiple priorities with a calm and positive attitude.
I held many positions in different departments at Saint Marys.
I originally came to SMRMC in 2000 as a travel RN in the Emergency Department. I was asked to remain on as staff and quickly moved to lead shift nurse then supervisor. During that time I also worked per diem in the ICU to further my understanding of critically ill patients. In July 2006 I accepted the position of interim manager of the Emergency department and resigned that position in November.
I split time in the Emergency dept, ICU and Case Management until February 2008 going fulltime in PACU. I later came back to Saints PACU for 5 years starting in January 2018.
Provided Emergency nursing in Tuba City Az at a small Indian Health hospital in the Emergency department. The treatments, medications and facilities were 10 years behind anywhere I worked before. Cultural differences, bias and distrust of anyone not of Navaho heritage were difficult to navigate.
This experience opened me to respecting the different cultural practices and trying to tie them to modern western medicine
