I started at performex machining running hardinge chuckers, toolroom lathes and Bridgeport mills. and have been a machinist since 1979 hen i got my first Machinist job from the career center at carlmont high school. I learned on manual machines and became a journeyman machinist at that time.
When CNC machines came out I went to NTMA. Training center with Andy to learn G code programming. and have excelled at it and have been working on Dooson puma Turret lathes with Fanuc and Mitsubishie controls, and Wasino gang tool machines with older style Fanuc controls.
One of the Dooson machines was multi axis and had live tooling but i haven't realy gotten use to it yet, but have been setting it up and running repeat jobs already programmed. and look forward to mastering it as well.
