Job Description

• Responsible for petroleum product movements in and out of pipeline pump stations; use tools and techniques to accurately assess, quantify and quality crude oil and/or refined products; and responsible for storage of products, and custody transfer activities with connecting carriers and customers
• Routinely inspect pumps and valves for proper operation.
• Responsible for accurate quality and quantity measurement of crude oil according to Plains procedures and reporting of same.
• Perform monthly DOT tankage inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, and maintains associated records.
• Inspect perimeter fencing, locks, etc. to maintain proper facility, pipeline and ROW security and address and report any infractions.
• Inspect and assure that routine and DOT compliance maintenance is performed on ROW, equipment and valves.
• Maintain communications with Pipeline Control Center.
• Act as witness to meter proving, crude oil shipment from lease to delivery point and run pipeline pigs monthly
• Perform other pipeline related tasks or projects as deemed necessary by Operations Supervisor.
• Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped
• Stay calm and focused in emergency situations such as product releases and equipment failure
• Conduct root cause analyses on any incidents or near misses that occur during operations to prevent reoccurrence and improve overall safety performance.
• Ensure safety compliance with industry regulations and company policies, mitigate risks throughout the system.
• Contribute to an overall culture of safety and excellence within the organization through active participation in safety meetings, training sessions, and other related activities.
• Monitor inventory levels of essential supplies such as chemicals or spare parts used in pipeline operations; order replacements when needed.
• Enhance pipeline efficiency by conducting regular inspections and maintenance procedures.
• Optimize pipeline flow rates by adjusting controls and coordinating with other team members to maintain optimal performance.
• Follow correct reporting procedures for safety concerns and incidents.
• Trained new operators on safety procedures and protocols and enforced implementation throughout workdays to prevent injuries or downtime incidents.
• Operate and lubricate tools and equipment / assets to protect durability and functionality.
• Communicate with other workers using signals, radios or telephones to start and stop flows of materials or substances.
• Keep shop workspaces and various fieldwork locations clean and organized for maximum productivity.

Performed construction and maintenance operating work related to a pipeline system.

Hot tapping

Responsible for performing maintenance and installation of oilfield equipment on location. Supervised roustabout hands and provided day to day direction and training. Duties included building tank batteries wellhead tie-ins, building fences, changing out heaters, cleaning locations, and transporting oilfield equipment. Knowledgeable in heaters, separators, general oilfield maintenance, troubleshooting of horizontal batteries, and repair of line leaks. Supervised a crew of roustabout laborers; Prepared daily work tickets summarizing work performed, materials used, costs and charges, etc.  Safely worked in a potentially hazardous environment  Secured equipment and safely transported according to company policy and DOT regulations  Installed and made repairs to oil and produced water tanks, including confined space entry  Dug pits and lines  Installed and made repairs to piping, valves, pumps, and motors  Installed and repaired pipelines  Performed access road upkeep and maintenance  Cleaned up oil spills and general clean up  Performed other duties as needed  Assisted in Providing a safe and hazard-free work environment
