  • After receiving prints I made it first to the job site making sure everything is ready for when the boring crew arrived
  • I would discuss with the foreman on what depths we were allowed to drill and the distance from the right of way he was allowed to go
  • Made sure the groundhands spotted the utilities lines they were assigned from the foreman safely and correctly
  • Constantly recording our progress on my prints writing down all of our footage and vaults placed undergrounds
  • Managing multiple jobs and setting a schedule based on distance, footage and traffic
  • Made sure all our safety equipment was laid out such as work ahead signs and cones for the safety of the crew and DOT
  • Had to be conscious on everyone's movement to assign people on what tasks needed to get done as soon as possible before the day ended

  • By calling in locates from 811 USIC to get all the underground utilities marked
  • Set up meetings with high pressure gas line companies such as Atmos Energy and Shell to plan our depths to drill pass their lines
  • Discussing with the crew the plan for the day, what underground utilities need to be spotted such as water, gas, power, sewer and other fiber optic/cables the run along our path
  • Make sure the crew had the necessary equipment to complete the job
  • Hauling material like boring rigs and reels of 5000ft of conduit
  • In some cases when some utilities weren't marked I had to call in emergency locates to keep the crew running
  • Dug handholes from 2-5ft in depth to spot for utilities with excavators and shovel
  • Operated a 20x22 Vermeer boring rig.
