Work History

Pediatric Optometrist

Mercy Pediatric Ophthalmology
Springfield, MO
07.2013 - Current
  • In July of 2013, I started as an Optometry Extender with work split between our Pediatric Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Specialist. I was 1 of 2 Optometrists added to our Ophthalmology program of 10 specialists at that time. I later transitioned into Mercy Clinic's sole Pediatric Optometrist. I have worked alongside 3 different Pediatric Ophthalmologists. I now run the clinic alone with a Mercy Pediatric Ophthalmologist from St. Louis visiting our clinic once a month.
  • As Mercy Clinic's Pediatric Optometrist I provide primary eyecare to Mercy Pediatricians and outside referrals. These services include ocular health exams, refraction, urgent care, strabismus evaluations/treatment, amblyopia treatment, specialty pediatric contact lens work (pediatric aphakia, sclerals, specialty soft, prosthetic, RGP), and treatment of disease (HSV, glaucoma, uveitis, etc.) I work in conjunction with Pediatric Rheumatology, Endocrinology, and Neurology assessing patients with diabetic eye exams, JIA checks, along with CVI assessment. I initiated and manage our IRD genetic testing program for retinal disease and co-management with Pediatric Genetics.
