  • The MacKinnon Group is a Public Health Consultation firm. The Primary focus is to work closely with Public Health organizations (the CDC, Florida Dept of Health, University of Miami, Florida Cancer Data System) developing and implementing Cancer Surveillance Systems, education/training software and performing data analysis. As an example, jointly with the University of Miami, The State of South Carolina Department of Health and the CDC, we developed and deployed a federalized Learning Management System which provides cancer data reporter’s educational and training modules to develop and/or enhance their data gathering and coding skills, in accordance with national standards.
  • As the Project Manager for the MacKinnon Group LLC I am responsible for:
  • Successfully implementing and overseeing the operation of our learning management system (LMS), which supports the professional development of 7,500 cancer registrars across 47 states. This system is crucial for providing ongoing training, certification, and educational resources to a diverse group of healthcare professionals who play a vital role in cancer data collection and surveillance. In my role, I ensure the system runs smoothly, regularly updating course materials, troubleshooting technical issues, and continuously improving the user experience. I also track engagement and performance metrics, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and ensure that our educational content meets the evolving needs of cancer registrars. Through this platform, we are able to streamline training processes, enhance knowledge retention, and contribute to the ongoing professional growth of individuals dedicated to improving cancer care nationwide.

  • As the Senior Research Analyst in the Development Office of South Florida's only NCI-Designated Cancer Center I was responsible for:
  • Conducting data mining projects and proactively identify, research, and recommend current and potential major gift donors.
  • Research requests for all Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and corporate and foundation entities.
  • Communicating with the Executive Director and Major Gift Development Director’s at Sylvester to fulfill requests in a timely and accurate manner and manage flow of requests to meet deadlines.
  • Compiling briefing materials, full profiles and analysis of prospects and donors using web-based resources and internal databases to provide leads for Executive Director and Major Gift Director’s in the department.
  • Monitoring major newspapers, journals, and on-line sources to track and identify donors and prospects, staying abreast of general philanthropic trends, preparing new news articles for distribution among staff and storage the information for distribution and use.
  • Submitting prospect names for assignment and rating in the prospect management system.
  • Working with the Board of Governors and Executive committee on donor outreach and new donor campaigns.
  • Overseeing Direct Mail Campaigns and Donor Acknowledgement.
