Born in Falls Church, VA, and raised in Washington DC and West Virginia, Lea had the best of both the culture and politics in Washington DC and the natural beauty of the mountains of WV. It is of no surprise that these are important themes of her contemporary artwork today. Lea was also influenced strongly by her mother and grandmothers, each with impressive artistic skills themselves. Lea hopes to evoke unexpected emotions in the viewer with her ingenious use of experimental mediums, and provocative subject matter. Whether a beautiful portrait, mural, sculpture installation or a controversial political/social piece, you will surely walk away inspired.

I was approached and hired by Federated Charities of Frederick, Md to design and paint a decommissioned parking meter. This meter was placed in Dancing Bear Toys and Gifts so patrons could donate change via the meter to help local community members in need. My design depicts an octopus and coral reef.
I designed, painted and added sculptural elements to my
"ART IN BLOOM" sculpture for the National Cherry Blossom Festival 2021. The sculpture was placed on Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave in Ward 7 of Washington DC in March of 2021. The sculpture was enjoyed by the public for several months during the National Cherry Blossom Festival's "Blossom Hunt" where the public went around our beautiful city and found each sculpture, took photos and tagged them on social media. Then, in the summer of 2021 my sculpture titled "Crane's Dance" was purchased by the Ward Memorial AME Church in NE Washington, DC.
I had a very successful solo exhibition at Gifts Inn Boonsboro Gallery in Boonsboro Md. This Gallery, which is owned by famous author Nora Roberts, invited me to show my "Powerful Beauties" portraits. These many portraits depict survivors/heroes/heroines that inspire us. The portraits are all created with mixed media including: oil pastels, acrylics, resin, papers and inks.
My mural design was chosen by the Frederick Arts Council via a juried selection process in spring of 2021 and I was hired to paint a location in Brunswick Md. The mural location was 3,000 square feet of retaining walls 22' in height. I designed a contemporary cityscape of Brunswick highlighting the C&O canal, historic African American churches, historic downtown businesses as well as nods to the Native American people that called the region home. During the painting of the mural I invited the public's help in finishing the piece. Many people stopped by with their children to paint, which was my favorite part of the entire job.
I designed a mural for the owners of a private property in Frederick County Md. This mural depicts a dark night sky with fireflies flittering around beautiful orange and violet pompom flowers. This mural is 20' by 30'.
I was approached and selected to paint a piano for the Washington National Conservatory of Music. This piano was donated to help fund the conservatory. My job was to create a design and paint the piano that was later to be auctioned off during an event at Glen Echo Park. The piano was very well received and purchased into a private collection.
I designed a mural for an owner of a property in Frederick County Md. This mural depicts a Luna Moth in white lace against a black night sky surrounded my various floral mandalas painted with spray paints and highlighted in white paint. This mural is 15' by 40'
I designed branding materials for Vintage MC of Frederick, MD. Vintage MC is a mid century modern shop in downtown Frederick Md. I designed, created and implemented the following for their re-branding:
- large scale mural art
- new logo
- new outdoor signage
- new window art and signage
- bespoke designs for merchandise, t-shirts, mugs, bags
- exclusive mid century illustrations of Frederick Maryland
- exclusive mid century illustrations of Vintage MC

I work closely with Busboys and Poets Art Curator Carol Dyson and provide her with art for all Busboys locations. I have had the pleasure of working with Carol for several years now. Whenever she has a new show/installation coming up she gives me a call and I provide site-specific artworks. I have had much success with Busboys, and am very grateful for the established relationship with both Carol and Andy Shallal.
I was invited to design and create a large sculpture for Zenith Gallery's Earth Day Celebration. This sculpture was an interactive, collaborative artwork with visitors to the gallery. I sculpted a 6' whale from metal and also a 5' jellyfish. As I was sculpting, I invited visitors to bring recyclable plastics and add them to my work. This was to represent all the pollution in the oceans. My installation was a huge success with many visitors including dignitaries from local embassies.
I was invited to be a featured sculptor at H Street Festival. This is a one day festival where I live sculpted a massive 10' diameter suspended nest from bamboo. As I built the piece, I invited visitors to write messages of hope, love, equality and unity on scraps of fabric which I then helped them weave into the nest. I had over a thousand people add to my nest and help me sculpt it that day. This was a very meaningful experience for both myself and the visitors.
I was hired by Frederick County Animal Shelter to design and create murals for their community room. I was also hired to create signage for the various areas of the shelter, ie Dogs/Cats/Small Animals. This mural work turned out beautifully.
I designed and created a 10' by 12' mural installation for FemeFattale DC. This mural depicts a feminist rainbow. I also installed a large sculptural piece which measured 15' by 12' this was a booth one could sit inside and record a "me too" moment onto paper then pin said message onto the crocheted fabric of the sculpture.
I was juried into this impactful show in 2019. The theme was gun violence in America. I created five large cyanotype prints measuring 10' by 9' total. These pieces depicted children in a lockdown situation at school. I also sculpted an installation depicting the horrific aftermath of a toddler getting ahold of her mother's handgun while sitting in a grocery cart. These pieces received a lot of press and interviews with WJLA, Fox5 and NPR.
