Found, negotiated, and purchased an ‘orphan’ $1.1 million book-of-business and established a new agency location while passing Texas insurance licensure and completing corporate independent contractor training. Hired all new sales and customer service team, shared and actively embodied vision of providing a top-notch customer experience while exceeding corporate sales targets. I deployed a variety of marketing tactics to get sales leads, shifting quickly and often as data revealed underperformance, and adopted a third-party CRM for lead management and to track our sales pipeline. I defined agency processes and created process flow documents to minimize the possibility of loose-ends for customer service issues or sales opportunities. With the fundamentals of the agency running smoothly, I concentrated on enhancing relationships with Allstate corporate managers and eventually received approval to absorb another small book-of-business shortly after our first-year anniversary.
Aside from implementing the agency start-up, and providing leadership to our small team, I especially enjoyed advocating for our clients in difficult claims situations, gathering facts from all stakeholders and, when appropriate, persuading the claims department toward a better outcome for my customer. By our second year, we earned the Premier Service Agency designation and retained it throughout, while also earning various sales awards including multiple Honor Rings and National Conference in 2014. I enjoyed a nearly unheard of 100 % staff retention during those nine years. All in all, we grew the agency to $3.5 million in written premium and sold at 3x revenue multiple on 12/31/2017
