Jana Lee Orara

This past year I’ve had the opportunity to develop my capacity for listening and attention to detail as a freelance audio engineer. I wasn’t specific about what I wanted when it came to audio, up until I started working for Elise Huang, an artist from the Philippines. Navigating our team’s dynamics, I had a sense of where she might need empowerment and to be heard as being the only other woman within our production team giving her a stronger sense of agency over her music. From that, I came to the realization that I want to support and work with more women and gender non-conforming individuals as I recognize that talent comes from everywhere, but it’s easier to cultivate when there are people to support them which I feel is in line with WAM’s mission.
