I served in the US Army as a Medic. During this time, the Army assigned either me or my husband (also in service) to Germany for a total of 9 years. I grew fond of the German culture and its language, and when my husband died on Active Duty, I returned stateside and subsequently enrolled in KU for German education. I added Spanish to better make my job search a success. I retired in August 2021 after 23 years of teaching.
I have 39 Masters credits, but no degree, as I took courses necessary to expand my skills. In addition to German and Spanish, I also have a working knowledge of French and speak it passably well. I have taught students from 5th to 12th grade and have worked as an instructor in the Elementary-level After School program. I am self-motivated, hard working, and very understanding of the lives and motivations of children. I believe each child can succeed.
