  • Managed IT Infrastructure and data center operations; including IT governance and service management, enterprise architecture, call center infrastructure, database systems, telecommunications, SaaS, networking, business continuity, strategic planning, unified messaging and organizational development.
  • Lead and directed seven direct reports with a total staff of 250. Budget responsibilities: OPEX = $90M. CAPEX = $60M.
  • Functioned as a key contributor to the cross-functional team that successfully negotiated Catamaran’s largest contract ever with Cigna, brought in over $10B of revenue over a 10-year period. Personal achievements included: infrastructure design, architecture alignment and IT service management.
  • Developed and put into use a robust fault tolerant infrastructure that supports production and disaster recovery data centers. This allowed for a reduction from 5 to 2 data centers as well as lowered OPEX by $3M annually. Both new data centers were built and production ready within a 20-week period, within scope and budget.
  • Directed the successful migration of 800 production, development, test, quality assurance and disaster recovery application, database and infrastructure environments to new data centers. This involved the management of over 200 people migrating 760 virtual machines and 167TB of data, retiring 85 systems. This project also moved the mission critical claims processing environment without any downtime or customer impact.
  • Increased SaaS services by upgrading 4 I-series platforms, supporting 40M members and a transaction-processing rating of 11M claims/day. Improved system reliability from 98.5% to 99.99% and high availability switching to less than 15 minutes.
  • Implemented “Service Now” to build out IT service management practice including service catalog, configuration management database and automated workflow resulting in a 30% improvement in IT service request processing.
  • On boarded an infrastructure transformation initiative from independent consultants to an employee-based organization, aligning storage, engineering and networking into a unified team, reducing OPEX $4M.
  • Eliminated over 1,800 WebEx accounts converting them to InterCall’s IUM Web Meeting tool. Moved $324K over 3 years from OPEX to CAPEX and heavy discounts saved $225K annually overall.

  • Upgraded the eCommerce environment utilizing Web sphere 8.5 and Tibco EMS under Linux. Completely automated installation and configuration, which reduced deployment time from hours to a few minutes, while improving availability to 99.9%.
  • Established the company’s enterprise architecture group with a focus on creating roadmaps and reference architecture for disaster recovery, encompassing iSeries, web, application and database tiers.
  • Reduced engineer work times for server builds from 4 hours to 30 minutes. Also, achieved an 80% reduction in internal IT work effort by implementing automation workflows based on VMware orchestration and Puppet software. Created a common platform for server builds that deploys quality and standardized images across the enterprise and drove down software license cost by 24%.
