Brave Hearts Foundation is a drumming program. I started in September 2018, working for Brave Hearts as a drumming instructor. I teach students in middle schools. There are four different middle schools I teach the students at. Drumming is an activity that not only teaches the students how to play a beat, but it also teaches them discipline and how to be respectful. I love being a drum instructor; the fact that I get to help my community is such an amazing opportunity.
Camp Berkshire is a camp that I, a Seventh-day Adventist member, go to. This camp is a private camp, and I always go on different camping trips. In the summer, I went to the camp to clean all the cabins and to clean up the area around the camp. During this job, it was a little difficult due to the fact that. Covid-19 just ended, so working with a mask was a bit of a challenge, and everything was dirty since no one had been to the camp all year. I felt good at the end of doing this because I cleaned the camp, as many people were coming the following week to stay at the camp and participate in activities. Me just knowing that cleaning up for them made me feel comfortable was a nice feeling.
In my high school, Wings Academy, I was in the student council. I was the student chair. My job was to get feedback and ideas from my fellow classmates. This job allowed me to connect with people, to hear their ideas and opinions, and to make a change about it. This experience has taught me how to understand others' feelings, and it's okay to not agree on something, but make sure you always respect each other.
