• The forestry foreman was responsible for maintaining the trees. Helped decide which trees were potentially dangerous, and which could be saved. Removed dangerous trees, and trimmed the trees as needed.
• Also, many trees were planted, and many other jobs were performed by the department.
• I was also responsible for all the forestry equipment, including the tree truck, chipper, chainsaws, and all other equipment.
• Inspected tools, materials, and equipment to ensure quality standards were met, and safe working conditions for everyone on the job, as well as the public.

I also performed many other jobs within the Department of Public Works over my nearly 20 years, including maintaining ball fields, addressing issues with town-wide flooding, hot top jobs, sidewalk jobs, holiday lights, and many other odd jobs that came up.

• Repaired storm damage by removing broken branches and trees from properties.
• Responded quickly to emergency situations involving fallen branches or entire trees that posed a danger to people or property.
• Operated a bucket truck to gain access to the canopy of large trees.
• Removed dead, damaged or diseased limbs from trees with hand saws and power saws.
• Ensured compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and safety standards while working at heights or around hazardous materials.
• Disposed of debris generated during tree maintenance activities properly.
• Operated rigging equipment to safely lower large branches and tree sections.
• Conducted stump grinding operations to remove tree stumps and prepare land for landscaping.
• Managed inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies for tree service projects.
• Maintained and repaired tree service equipment, ensuring operational efficiency.
• Adhered to safety protocols and wore appropriate PPE during all tree service operations.
• Communicated effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure safety.
• Coordinated with utility companies to address tree-related concerns near power lines.
