I began working as a Manager for SPENGA in Glenview in January of 2017 and later transitioned to SPENGA in Evanston where I worked until March of 2020, when my place of employment shut down due to COVID. During my time there, my responsibilities included planning and preparing weekly schedules, and delegating tasks for other staff members in the studio. Some of these tasks were to provide a list of what their cleaning, and daily responsibilities were during their shift, giving them detailed information on any new prospect who would be coming in during their shift to take a class. For any new staff that started, I trained them on how to properly set up an individual on our bikes and explain our workout technique to them. I walked them through our computer system, making sure they were able to process memberships, set new prospect schedules, and make cold calls. The staff would report to me when their were any cancellations, issues with memberships, any equipment not working properly or complaints from clients at which point it was my responsibility to immediately follow up. I also ran bi-weekly reports to make sure all memberships were being paid on time, looked for expired credit cards and to make sure we had no unpaid clients. I kept track of our inventory we had and was responsible for entering all new merchandise into our system as well as to run monthly sales reports to make sure all our numbers were correct. While I was part of the SPENGA team, I enjoyed the interaction I had with clients and was often told they looked forward to my smile and friendly greeting. I love conversing with new people and forming a relationship to where they want to come back because of something I said or did. I am very proud of the fact that I am such a people person and strive to form a client/partner working relationship.
I worked at Banner preschool for 14 years. While I was there I explored teaching in the young 2 year old, older 2's, 3 year old and the 4 year old program. During my time there, I created a weekly lesson plan which consisted of a theme for the week (often guided by the children's interests) Each day we greeted the children with a circle time where we sang songs, did mystery items, and then talked about what our day was going to look like, THe children had free time where they would explore different centers my self and my co teacher would put out. These areas were art, literacy, science, math, and sensory. These activities were geared around our theme for the week as well. I was responsible for the classrooms conferences, which happened twice during the school year. Twice a year, I was responsible to contact each parent to set up a conference time. Our 1st one wasn't as detailed but we assessed each child to see where they were at academically as well as socially. We engaged in a brief sit down meeting with the parents to discuss what the school year would consist of and to see what expectations they had for their children throughout the year. The second conference was towards the end of the year and each parent was given a very detailed report about how their child has done throughout the year academically and socially. We documented each childs school year with photos and art projects which we would present to the parents. I loved working with young children and helping to make their 1st school experience one that they will continue to thrive from.
