Ensuring proper husbandry, welfare and animal health of Florida Native herpetofauna and freshwater teleosts in The Florida Aquarium Wetlands gallery. Proper husbandry tasks include but not limited to daily feeding, cleaning and disinfection, enrichment, LSS and water quality management, record keeping (written/TRACKS), capture, restraint, handling and operant conditioning.
Perform daily husbandry tasks, welfare assessments, and support departmental SOPs for the herpetology and avian collection at Busch Gardens Tampa. Tasks include, but not limited to diet prep, feeding, record keeping, enrichment, handling, enclosure design, cleaning and daily maintenance, disinfection, operant conditioning, and water quality testing.
Maintain high quality health and welfare standards for numerous venomous and non-venomous reptile and amphibian taxa within Toledo Zoo's collection. Facilitate daily husbandry protocols including but not limited to feeding, diet prep, temperature and UV checks, record keeping (written/digital), handling, capture and restraint, classical and operant conditioning, enclosure maintenance and design, cleaning and disinfection, LSS management, water quality testing, quarantine and medical care.
Actively engages in educational discussions with zoo visitors on zoological taxa, natural history, exhibit design and conservation efforts. Performs visitor interpretations in various locations such as the Promedica Museum of Natural History and Aquarium. Additionally performs public animal demonstrations.
Deliver exceptional customer service via maintaining extensive knowledge in POS, electronics, availability of products and the most current technology. Knowledgeable in multiple areas, and assist in training and development of new team members.
Facilitate in captive management and education of various exotic species including small-medium sized mammals (Coatimundi, Kinkajou, Tayra, Bobcat, Fishing cat and macropods), medium-large ungulates ( Alpaca, Blackbuck, Reindeer, Camelids and Reticulated giraffe) and primates (Ring-tailed lemur, Olive baboon, Mona guenon, and Common marmoset) and birds of prey (Red-tailed hawk and Bald eagle). In addition, medium-large reptiles (Salvator merianae, Varanus exanthematicus, Boa constrictor, Eunectes notaeus, Geochelone sulcata and Alligator mississippiensis) and amphibians (Dendrobatidae and Pyxichephalus adsperus). Experienced in diet preparation, feeding, enrichment, operant conditioning, handling and restraint, record keeping, inventory, cleaning and maintenance, quarantine and biosecurity, and keeper training.
