I would clock into my job then I would go to the back and straighten up all the trailers the drivers dropped over night. I will then bring up trailers for the mechanics to fix whatever needed to be fixed sometimes I would park right after and sometimes I would have to swap trailers that needed to have more work done than others. I will also bring trailers up for leasing that where being rented or bought sometimes I will help with painting of rims peeling decals and applying decals grabbing things around the yard that where previously left behind. Also use golf carts to pickup any nails or sharp objects that could damage truck tires.
Start my day off with a full pre trip inspection of the vehicle I would be operating that day. Once completed I will then complete a trailer list ( writing down every trailer number in yard for office to know what’s empty or what is in the yard) once completed I will turn into shipping office for them to select what trailers in the yard needed to be loaded or unloaded containers etc. i was a yard jockey for all 4 sides “Luca side” “Walmart side” trucco side” and “raggata side”. So when all trailer where backed into doors loaded and then pulled and parked I will then help out the other 3 sides that needed trailers moved.
Before operating any machines I would complete a pre trip inspection of all moving components as well as lifting components, all hydraulic hoses, tires, batteries etc. once completed I would complete all full pulls (Pallets that are going to be shipped) Sometimes orders would vary from 100 full pulls to a even as high as 500 full pulls. I would always have completed before lunch time, I will then move onto helping my coworkers with there full pulls or case picks (single cases pulled from pallets for custom orders. Once completed I will load and unload trucks for the remainder of the day.
