Summary

My skills as a former educator, college student and someone living with disabilities as a independent adult give me great assets to add to your company and this position, or any position such as remote virtual personal assistant. Some things you may have picked up on that I bring to the table I am independent, personable, tech saavy, a problem solver organized and can get the job done! I look forward to the next phase in the interview process and getting to meet more people from the company to help further your goals.

Senior Lifeguard and Lead Instructor

City Of Lenoir Parks And Recreation
05.2003 - 03.2016
  • Began as an attendant in the concession stand where I had to manage money, meet health codes, manage stress among employees and keep everything running smoothly at all times
  • At age 15, I began assisting the older teachers to teach swim lessons because they knew I had a passion for teacheing and loved being in the water. I really took to it and by the next year I was certified as a lifeguard, and was doing all of the younger kid swim lessons.
  • The next year I was certified to teach swim lessons by the American Red Cross, I basically took over the scheduling and deciding who taught what and I came in at all hours and taught a class at every session. During other times I was lifeguarding, something else I really enjoyed and felt good at. I enjoyed ensuring that the pool was safe for ALL people who came.
  • Within the next few years I became certified as a Lifeguard Instructor, certified to teach the course of how to be a lifeguard. I taught a few of these classes to the general public but mainly was used in my facility as a trainer. * This is when I realized I really did enjoy the younger children*
  • I became known as the teacher who would take ANYONE in her class; autism, dwarfism, blind, deaf, ADHD, scared to death, to name a few. Many of these children that had special learning needs I taught on my off times and did not accept money. This grew my passion for this population. They did more for me than they'll ever know.
  • I left there when I got my first teaching job and couldn't split my time fairly. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I still do the occasional private lesson on the side but they are few and far between.
