  • Producing and maintaining the gift shop inventory and all supplies is critic to
    maximize sales and ensure smooth daily operations. They organize, plan, and place all routine orders
    (and train/designate others to fill in during any absence like vacation, etc.) They pay for any orders that
    can be paid in advance and ensure all other invoices are sent to accounts payable. They do their best
    to work with vendors and delivery services to remedy issues with orders. They work through receiving, verifying, and stocking orders as they come in and guide the sales associates who are assisting them. They ensure shelves and displays are consistently stocked with appropriate products and
    the sales floor generally looks presentable and appealing. In addition to maintaining current inventory
    at appropriate levels on a routine basis, the inventory manager commissions, selects, and buys new
    merchandise to expand/vary what is on offer. This occurs seasonally and annually. They also oversee the
    curation of the online store and the fulfillment process for any online orders.
    • In addition to the standard responsibilities of a sales associate, the inventory manager has the following
    responsibilities:
    • Help management develop effective inventorying, ordering, stocking, and recounting processes,
    workflows, and checklists., Maintain those and help train other staff on how they work
    • Place orders and monitor inventory/supply levels every week with the aim of maximizing sales and
    guaranteeing we will have the supplies we need on hand to ensure operations/sales are not interrupted
    • Report issues and provide regular feedback on store/storage/warehouse areas and operations
    • Assist with monitoring deliveries and arranging internal distribution to the correct location
    • Maintain and develop the overall organization of merchandise and supply storage
    • Help assess the profitability of current products, pricing, and also commission or buy new items which
    stand to perform better
    • Help assess the effectiveness of different displays and layouts
    • Work with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices as possible
    • Maintain shared vendor lists and catalogs and account access sheets
    • Maintain a personal buyer portfolio—just to help track which new picks are doing well and which
    probably need to be retired.
    • Perform some miscellaneous administrative and office tasks as needed and when time allows
    • Encourage a positive, professional, and friendly work environment
    • Work in such a way that encourages teamwork and collaboration
    • During slow times at the coaster or when all inventory is caught up, for the time being, needs to be willing
    to occasionally assist inventory managers and stocking teams at affiliated businesses. They receive large
    shipments or need to place large orders and could often use some help, especially from someone very
    familiar with inventory management.
