Abigail Maldonado

Passionate and committed educator with a strong foundation in supporting diverse student populations, including English Language Learners, and students with special needs. Currently serving as an ELL paraprofessional, I bring hands-on experience in classroom support, academic intervention, and fostering inclusive learning environments. With a background in both formal and informal education, I work hard at building meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues. My previous work as an advocate has equipped me with trauma-informed care practices and a deep sense of empathy.

• Berrien County Sherriff’s Department, Victims Service Unit, St. Joseph, MI, Victim Advocate, Working alongside Sherriff deputies, local PD’s and MSP Troopers to help victims’ families in time of death of a loved one and the community in the event of mass casualties., Outreach in representation of the Sherriff’s Department in the Berrien County community.
• Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, Victim Service Unit, Paw Paw, MI, 2020-01, 2023-04, Victims Advocate, Work alongside Sherriff deputies, local and Michigan State Troopers to help victims’ families in very serious situations.
• Domestic Violence Coalition, Board Member, Paw Paw, MI, 2019-04, 2023-04, Currently secretary of the board and chairperson of the programs committee., Part of the Domestic Violence Response Team as a victim advocate.
• Watervliet PTO, Vice President, 2021-04, Present, Help PTO president organize and plan events and fundraisers., Lead committees in planning school wide events., Work with children PreK-5th Grade.
