This was an award I received in February of 2019 as a freshman in high school. This was awarded by nomination. It is only given to those who have demonstrated their determination and achievements in multiple ways: outstanding students with exceptionalities in six categories: Academics, Arts, School and Community Activities, Self-Advocacy, Technology, and Transition.
I volunteered with a speech pathologist who used a form called Hippotherapy. I did this from 2017 to 2019. My jobs included leading the horse and ensuring the safety of everyone around. I also assisted with using tools to help the child make the proper sounds that were being asked for—basic cleaning duties, such as keeping tools clean and disinfected and cleaning up after the horse and child.
