I am currently a student at Midland School where there is a culture of intense dedication to our work. As students, we participate in the 'Job's program' where we are collectively responsible for managing living spaces, tending to livestock and agriculture, cleaning bathrooms, classrooms, the cafeteria, sanitizing the kitchen, trail work, and more. Through this I have learned proper tool selection (considering factors a task requires and choosing tools that contribute to the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of getting a job done), communication, and responsibility for place. Furthermore, I also waiter meals and buss tables in our cafeteria for dinner meals. I serve teachers, staff and students alike. This has taught me customer service, multitasking, and the ability to read non-verbal cues when interacting with those I am serving. This includes maintaining a high level of professionalism through smiling, eye contact, body language, appropriate cleanliness and grooming (having a professional image while serving guests). Students have sit-down conversations with staff managers regarding their strengths and weaknesses. Because of this, I am constantly improving and growing as a worker. I value having difficult conversations and being receptive to feedback with the goal of improvement and moving forward. I have received feedback throughout the year on my ability and work ethic from my manager. She reported, "Abigail takes pride in her job and is often enthusiastic about the quality of her work. She assumes each task with a positive attitude and does it to the best of her ability. Abigail demonstrates initiative when it comes to self advocacy and communication by asking questions about anything she might be unsure of, and voicing whatever obstacles or concerns she has within her job with me. Midland jobs can be difficult and there are pros and cons that come with each role. That said, Abigail's positive attitude and consistent quality work will take her very far and impact those around her positively." As a detail-oriented and organized person, I am capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously. My time management skills and ability to work under pressure have allowed me to consistently succeed while working as an inventory manager assistant at Tangled Salon, and deliver high-quality work as I do so. I am a team player who is committed to any work I do, and excited about the opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative organization.
