  • My job involves determining client eligibility for representation by the Office of Public Defender and obtaining initial client information for preparation of case files
  • These case files are distributed to the attorneys by me following the Court calendars
  • My external customers consist largely of the general public, who are in need of a public defender, who are the attorneys I work for (my internal customers).
  • I act as the middleman between the attorneys and the clients
  • After the clients have received a letter of qualification for a public defender, I introduce them to their assigned public defender and assist them to book an appointment to meet
  • I also answer questions on behalf of their attorneys especially when these attorneys are away from the office
  • I assist with enquiries on dates of their cases, explain information provided on case search , enlighten them on the steps which the attorney has taken or plans to take and resolve other enquiries pertaining to their court cases
