I am a first year student at Indiana University studying merchandising. I have chose this career path because I have been interested in apparel since middle school, and from paying attention to the apparel world, I have attained the basic skills to be excellent in this major. In the future I plan to become become a buyer for a large department store. The thing I enjoy most in my free time is being active, whether that is weightlifting or playing sports. I have been lifting weights consistently since I was 14 and I love challenging my body physically. In high school I was an all-state(Indiana) lacrosse player my sophomore year, honorable mention my junior year, and I was suppose to be all state my senior year but was moved down to honorable mention because my coaches decided to forfeit a game. Starting my junior year of high school I wanted a new physical challenge so I decided to run cross country. Endurance sports were completely foreign to me when I started, but I quickly began to enjoy running, and by the end of my Junior year season I had the fourth best 5k time. Then by my senior year I had the top time on the team. Both years I was all conference. As of now, in terms of sports, I frequently play Basketball, spikeball, and ping pong with my friends. The things I value most in relation to how I act are authenticity, effort, and empathy. Authenticity is important to me because it demands the constant asking of ones self in order to attain true self identity. Effort is important to me because though working hard is tough in the moment, the feeling of accomplishment and knowing you tried makes the uncomfortable moments worth it. Lastly, I value empathy because it allows one to understand and indirectly feel someone's emotions or experiences, creating selflessness.
