I began my journey in property maintenance as an Assistant Maintenance Manager, where I learned the importance of organization, vendor coordination, and team communication. That role gave me a strong foundation in both the technical and leadership aspects of maintenance operations. Two years ago, I was promoted to Maintenance Manager/Supervisor because of my hands-on approach, strong communication skills, and dependability. In this role, I’ve taken ownership of daily team coordination, vendor scheduling, make-readies, and constant communication with both the property manager and regional leadership.
I’ve handled high-pressure situations, including responding to winter sprinkler and pipe breaks—coordinating vendors in the middle of the night, documenting unit damage, and keeping management fully updated. I’ve also taken the lead during weekend repair work to ensure everything runs smoothly. These experiences have helped shape me into a reliable, proactive leader who’s always ready to go the extra mile for the team and the property.
I was promoted to Maintenance Manager/Supervisor due to my strong leadership skills, proactive communication, and hands-on approach to property upkeep. I consistently ensured that work orders were completed on time, built strong relationships with vendors, and maintained clear daily communication with both my team and the property manager. My ability to anticipate maintenance needs, stay organized with make-ready schedules, and represent our team in regional meetings demonstrated my reliability and readiness for a leadership role.
During two separate winter emergencies, I took full responsibility for managing broken sprinkler lines and burst pipes, including responding to incidents in the middle of the night. I immediately contacted our water extraction vendor to begin mitigation, took detailed photos of each affected unit and documented all damage by apartment number, then kept my property manager fully updated throughout the process. I also made myself available on Saturdays when DD Sprinkler came out to repair damaged sprinkler heads, ensuring repairs were completed quickly and correctly. These situations demonstrated my commitment to protecting the property, my strong crisis management skills, and my willingness to go above and beyond even outside normal hours.
