I am currently an operator for the Eastern Power Delivery Distribution System. I have been in training over the last year, learning how to operate the power grid for my area. My knowledge is becoming increasingly extensive in switching practices, field practices for fault isolation and restoration, and mandatory safety practices both in office as well as in the field. I am responsible for being proficient and well versed with the resources in place for all DSOs to be able to best safely and effectively keep the power grid running correctly. I work shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays, to better help my team as best as I can in supporting our electric system as the 24/7 operation that it is. I have become extremely confident in my ability to multitask in very stressful situations, and remain clear headed and calm in the event of large storms that have caused damage so massive, it takes up to weeks working around the clock to repair.
