Growing up I had always watched other work hard to be successful in life. I have adapted to do the same and hold myself accountable to be as successful as I can be. I have had a very busy schedule ever since I could remember, being involved with sports at a young age and school being a huge priority of mine, I was able to manage all of that in highschool and ended up playing 2 years of division 3 basketball at UW- Superior. During the 2020 spring I was looking to transfer schools to play somewhere else but the school I was going to go to ended up getting their season cancelled so I ended up staying home. I knew from that point on that it was crucial for me to get a job and make money for myself to help set me up for the future. I worked at the USPS from July 2020 - October 2020 and then was a Rebar worker from October 2020 - April 2021 and then started working at the Xcel Energy center with the job I currently hold today.
I am a HUGE fan of sports and ever since I had started thinking of what I wanted to be when I grew up that didn't involve a professional athlete I wanted to do something with sports. Behind the camera work, broadcasting, play by play and sports writing all are interests of mine. I can talk and write about sports all day if given the chance. With that being said I had gone to school to study Communications/Journalism and I have as recent as May 9, 2022 gotten my Associate Arts Degree from Saint Paul College. I am a hard working young man who seeks a great future for me and my future family if I am ever blessed to have one. I will give 100% effort on everything that is assigned to me and try my best to seize the opportunities I have been granted.
As a Dock Marshall / Valet guy for the Xcel Energy Center. I have a couple different tasks to do each day while being the top assistant to my boss. He would coordinate the plan for the day on where cars are supposed to be parked on the loading dock. Along with where cars are supposed to be parked by visitors and staff we also instructed deliveries on where to go in the dock as well. We instructed semis, box trucks, delivery vans and regular vehicles delivering items to the Xcel Energy Center on where to bring them on a daily basis. By doing this it helps control the flow of traffic if there is any down on the dock.
On Gamedays for the MN Wild we Valet the whole team so roughly 25 players and around 25-40 other cars per night on average which can be family, friends or staff who are coming to catch a game. After the game is over we retrieve cars based on who is leaving, the order varies every night so we have to be on top of everything and customer service needs to be top notch. Once the friends and family have all left we then retrieve the players cars, the order for them varies as well. That is how a typical game day goes.
I have done instacart for a little over a year now on the side whenever I want some extra money. Instacart is basically just shopping for peoples groceries and driving around and delivering them throughout the day. I applied for this job when I came back from school due to covid and wanted to get a quick job that I could do on my own while also being in school. It was a convenient job because I love driving and communicating with people and I was able to work on my own schedule.
A normal day of instacart consists of driving to certain stores and picking up an order that people placed on the shopping app. I would pick it up then drive and deliver to their house apartment or business. I would average around 3-5 orders done per day last summer and slowed down after I got full time positions at USPS and Empire corp but I still do instacart often during the week just for some extra money.
While at Empire I was working in a warehouse and cutting rebar for construction sites. I would cut the rebar to the desired height requested by the contractor and then bundle it up and tie it along with making sure it is properly loaded onto the delivery truck flatbed.
I also learned more skills when it comes to operating certain machines like rebar benders, forklifts, and a hole punch machine.
I have performed some small welding and painting jobs while working there as well. I learned a lot of new skills while working here that are going to help me in my future occupations.
While working for the US Postal Service I was a CCA ( City Carrier Assistant ) . This job required me to organize mail at the station for the route I was assigned for that day. After that I would load my truck and be on the road to start my route. I would deliver letters, packages, and even stamps. I held this job over the summer and it was a great job to have. I was starting school and was unable to manage both as I worked 6 days a week for this job otherwise I would have stayed.
On Sundays we were amazon drivers and would deliver packages or parcels at our designed route. roughly 150-200 stops every Sunday.
As an intramural referee at UW-Superior I would referee the games played in the intramural program. I reffed football, volleyball, basketball, soccer , and basically anything we had for students to be apart of. I have a high knowledge of sports and just love sports in general so it was a nice job to have while at college and kept me working even while away from home.
Referee of the week 2x
Referee of the semester 1x
At cub foods I held the position of maintenance and cart retriever. I was on call to help inside of the store do the following: pickup any messes, spills, sweep, vacuum, take out trash, help bag groceries for customers, help customers bring bags to the car, and even operate machines in the back room.
As a cart retriever I would just retrieve the carts from outside and bring them in. I would line them up for the customers to take and make sure they were clean and sanitized for people to use. I would also pickup any loose litter laying around outside and make sure everything with carts are working properly and fixing any damaged carts.
At Carbone's I was a pizza puller. I would pull the pizzas from the oven along with cut them and prep them for the restaurant dining or place them in boxes for any deliveries or pickup orders. I would also clean and make sure all the ovens were ready for non stop pizzas being placed inside.
I love sports. I really really hope I can get into something that is sports related in the future as my occupation. Sports has literally been my life ever since I could remember so if that is involved with my job then I most likely will love it. I love hanging out with my family and friends and I am always down for a good time.
