Summary

I am an experienced registered nurse eagerly seeking a nurse educator position at the Baylor Frisco Emergency Department. While working as an emergency room nurse with 15 years of nursing experience ranging from high acuity trauma to increased patient volume settings, I have been promoted to leadership roles, including Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, and Nursing Administrative Supervisor. In my current position at Baylor Scott and White Frisco, I work as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor. I also have experience working in the Post-Surgical Unit as a staff nurse and step-down/ICU nurse, and I have extensive knowledge and care for patients on ventilators.   • Obtaining beds for patients who are already in-house that need to be transferred to other units based on their acuity.
  • RRT (Rapid Response Team)
  • Responsible for making sure all appropriate members are present for those patients who are experiencing a sudden deterioration in health status.
  • Ensure that all members of the team arrive in a timely manner to take care of the patient in an organized manner.
  • Ensuring bed placement to an appropriate unit for a higher level of care.
  • Ensuring the presence of all necessary personnel to the prompt arrival of patients who are Code Blue.

While working at Medical City Dallas, I started off working as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department. I soon thereafter within 6 months was promoted to Charge Nurse of the Emergency Department. While working as a Charge Nurse I soon thereafter was promoted again as the Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor, which led to yet another promotion as Nursing Administrative Supervisor for the entire 700 bed hospital. The job description included but not limited to:

  • Acknowledging patient issues and resolving their problems quickly and efficiently.
  • I was responsible for patients being brought to the Emergency Room and triaging patients based on acuity.
  • I collaborated with the Emergency Department as a whole including the entire medical team to develop, plan, and implement a process to decrease the wait time in the ER from door to treatment room.
  • I was responsible for Bed Board Management which included bed placement for patients being transferred from outlying hospitals, transferring patients to other facilities for patients that required specialized or high acuity care. I was also responsible for bed placement of patients from the Emergency Department as well as in-house transfers. Another job description that I portrayed as House Supervisor included:
  • Rounding on all units including Med/Surg, Telemetry, ICU/Oncology/Orthopedics/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Pediatric/Pediatric Oncology.
  • Rapid Response Team Member: Assisting in providing quality care to patients who were quickly deteriorating in health status and ensuring the patient received a bed in a high acute care setting.
  • Pronouncing end of life for those patients and being there for the family and friends of the loved as well as offering Chaplain assistance.
  • I was responsible for the staffing of the entire hospital to ensure the units were adequately staffed with nurses, patient care technicians, sitters for suicidal patients/patients that are fall risks/patients who are a threat to themselves and or others.
