Summary
I was able to interact with patients myself by performing wellness exams on newborn well babies and babies in the NICU. This included holding them, feeling their spines, and performing checks like listening to their hearts, stomach, and lungs. I was able to listen to several patients who had a variety of different viral infections. I was able to be in the OR and watch C-sections from start to finish and I was able to be in the procedure room to watch circumcisions and one frenectomy (tongue tied removal). I was able to interact with the parents about their child and treatment plans. I also had access to Mercy's computer program EPIC to get an understanding on how to view patient files and document into the charts
