I have worked for Rio Tinto at Kennecott Utah Copper for over 17 years all years in the Crushing and Conveying Department. My usual work week is around 50 to 60 hours. I am self motivated and mostly on my own as I drive my assigned service truck and prepped for any planned work. Every 2 weeks we have a scheduled shut down where we group up fix anything any inspectors came across during the 2 week run. We try to be as pro active as we can so we can minimize crusher and belt stoppage for two straight weeks. Most daily work assigned is clean-up, rebuild and prep for the scheduled shut down. If belt shuts down unplanned us mechanics group up and fix problem as safe and as fast as possible. Previous to this job I worked and Hill Air Force Base as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for 2 years on the A-10 Wort Hog attack jet. Adding any update kits and fixing any corrosion, cracks, holes, etc. On the aircraft.
