TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

  • By becoming an educator, I have given myself the opportunity to play an integral role in the development of the life-long learner. At the end of each school year, I hope to have instilled in my students a desire to ask many questions and actively seek their answers. A questioning nature serves as motivation for continued learning.
  • It is my belief that the most meaningful learning occurs when a student constructs their own knowledge through exploration and discussion. I believe in utilizing real world examples to enhance critical thinking, exploration, and group discussion. Motivation is essential in learning new ideas and concepts. Therefore, I try to make instruction engaging and exciting, piquing students’ interest and challenging their thinking.
  • The driving force behind my becoming a teacher is that I strongly believe in an educator’s effectiveness and the importance of a teacher as a role model. A student sees a teacher as an ideal; therefore it is essential that a teacher exemplifies qualities that we wish students to imitate. A teacher must show excitement and enthusiasm for a topic if they want students to demonstrate positive attitudes toward learning. We must also show affection and respect for our students. A student is a mirror which reflects the behaviors and knowledge of a teacher, and this is something that should not be taken lightly.
