Music:
I have a lot of interest in ensemble and performing (as I have a lot of experience from high school, middle school and *now* college bands). I am currently majoring in Music Performance and Music Theory as I have expressed a passion that goes deeper into why I want to be there performing and to discover more the essence of music. As for being a part of the ensemble I find great joy and gratitude in expressing great music pieces and spreading my joy and gratitude to others.
Art:
I spend my free time self-learning and improving the way I draw while having fun with my creativity. I also find that drawing and sketching is a great creative outlet of stress and anxiety when there are family complications, stressful school assignments or when I have spare time while constantly improving my skills as I try to understand how I perceive proportions.
Gaming:
This is another outlet to my stress and anxiety as well as improving teamwork skills and socialization skills across a virtual environment. Gaming for me is a way to help me understand how to independently control and manage my time as it can be addicting and time consuming.
Language skills:
I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I grew up in a pre-dominantly Spanish speaking household that helped me learn and improve commands and statements as I grew up. While learning Spanish from family members and community I was also raised in an English speaking culture and learn from school and friends how to properly speak english while learning how to properly speak Spanish. I am now currently learning ASL at the SRJC. I chose to learn ASL because I have a minor passion for languages and wanted to pursue a further career in language studies and decided that ASL was a useful language that is basically used without educational understanding. ASL is a language that is use within a community that is small enough to not be recognized to a capable speaker, or listener unless personally related to someone hard of hearing or incapable of speaking. I want to be apart of the effort to expand our horizons and make others realize that we can help in such a small way by breaking a communication barrier and taking the simple steps into learning how to say "how are you?" instead of just "hello" and properly expand on full communication as a way for people to express interests, needs and social accommodations.
