I started at Kohls EFC4 10/23 in the EO department. I immediately focused on progression, learning, and calculating ways towards growth within Kohls. Within a few months as an LTE I became associate of the month by showing I could make rate, do anything that was asked of me, as well as consistently letting it be known that I’m a team player, and wanted to advance within the company as an asset. A few months after proving my worth, and keen knowledge/understanding, I became a problem solver in the EO department. Due to my aspirations I was recommended to choose a mentor, in which I chose my Operations Manager. In the event of shifts in management my former supervisor was called to the Replenishment department which left me, and my other problem solver to uphold our department without a supervisor (in a sense.) Though we were not fully alone, due to outstanding management, we were trusted (due to our performance) to run our department with minimum to no micromanagement. I personally exhibited exceptional leadership, which resulted in our department being number one, reaching monthly goals for months going further. During this time, I had multiple trainings with the training specialist in terms of development, with courses such as: communication, building a team, empathy, etc… Later, I became the Equipment Operator Trainer for Order Pickers/Walkie Riders during peak season, and also trained/certified permanent associates from other departments later in the year. (This was very helpful to unsure that in the case of a decline in staff we could have other experienced associates that could assist inbound productivity.) In my opinion this was a great opportunity to show my leadership as I had to teach/lead multiple classes of new hires each weekend. This, was not limited to only showing LTE’s how to operate equipment. I was depended upon to be trustworthy. To be on time, setup the classroom, communicate with the training specialist, and their supervisor, be organized, and fill out each associate’s paperwork, as well as document their performance, host a classroom in a welcoming way by our company standards, be proficient in slideshows, google docs/sheets, commanding multiple people in a classroom/on the floor setting, as well explaining, and upholding OSHA regulations and safety protocols. When encountering new hires, a lot of questions, needs, and communication is consistently required. I was able to maintain all these things with each class throughout our peak season at Kohls. Confidently, I can say those which I trained passed their training with the exception of a few who weren’t able to attend the required 3 day training. After peak our other problem solver decided to pursue other employment leaving me as the sole leader of my department in which I took as a challenge to improve myself, lead, and to advance productivity within the company. Again, this was executed without a supervisor. I created a way to communicate more consistently with different departments around the start of shift as well as throughout each shift. Not only was I following SOP, but I went above and beyond to help other departments in time of need when I had down time. This includes: communication as top priority (using slack/radios to make sure things get done.) Small things like bringing totes to departments in need. If no one is available to transport pallets to trailers I would step up to do so, transporting autobags to shipping, bringing pallets to departments, clearing cardboard box trash for the replen department, helping maintenance, communication with Loss Prevention, and finding missing items. The list goes on! During this peak season I’ve transitioned in the Seasonal Area Specialist position for the picking department. This also calls for me to overlook/monitor new hires for the replenishment department as well, due to both departments being based in the Mod. Although, this was new territory for me, I became excited about the challenge and experience. My prior experience managing new hires in the previous year as an equipment trainer, made the transition easier, yet there were still things I had to experience first hand. This new found responsibility, has had a positive influence on my growth and I’ve been able to manage it gracefully. I was able to communicate with my team during this time and work with them to have a successful peak season with minimum problems. There were times where I was called upon to sit in on PIPs or address an LTE during a PIP conversation. This added to my experience. Multiple supervisors have also put me in position to expand my growth withing Kohls in which I am very grateful for. Here's some of the of the things I contributed to our company.

Crane Operator/Anodize Machine Operator/Data recorder/Inspector
As a crane operator it was my job to Anodize (process) large loads of aluminum in various tanks filled with different types of acid. I used a machine that sends an electric current through the metal for up to 40 minutes or less depending on the sq. ft. of the material. Then I was required to inspect the material to ensure that the aluminum received the correct amount of coating. After that, the material is sealed and I was required to input the order information into a computer and post the necessary criteria for the next department. It was mostly important for me to ensure that I did my job safely and that I help process quality material.
