Addie Hemsley

Logan,UT

Summary

I once thought my “why” was nursing, graduating high school with an associate’s degree, CNA certification, and an honors diploma to pursue neonatal care, but I soon realized I wasn’t happy. At the last minute, I chose creative writing—my passion—and from my very first poetry workshop at Utah State, I knew I had found the life I was meant for. Since then, I have immersed myself in the world of writing, working as a sports journalist for the Utah Statesman, a poetry reader for Sink Hollow, publishing my poetry, and writing across all genres. These experiences have strengthened my craft and deepened my commitment to writing as both art and vocation. Now I am eager to join a graduate community that will challenge me, refine my voice, and prepare me to contribute meaningfully to the literary and publishing world.
