Strengths include comprehensive knowledge of agricultural science, effective teaching methodologies, and ability to inspire students' interest in agriculture. Made significant contributions to curriculum development and implementation while fostering positive learning environments.
When I first took the job at Patton Springs as their agricultural science teacher, their agricultural program was recovering from a massive blow to finances and loss of equipment. There was a severe lack of student involvement due to a series of unfortunate events that left them in no position to go to competitions, or even establish an FFA officer team. The students were left with ICEV lessons and little to no hands on learning. The first thing I did was establish an officer team, and we set up a schedule for parent meetings, FFA banquets, and fundraisers to help grow our finances to be able to go to competitions. Then I wrote up a contact for the use of the ag farm and a safety waiver for the use of the ag shop with a course that they needed to complete during my class. I studied ICEV lessons and incorporated knowledge from my college classes to develop hands on lessons to engage students. Student involvement went up and I had several kids sign up to participate in LDEs and CDEs. I coached an area qualifying greenhand creed speaker, an area qualifying senior creed speaker, a third place district ag advocacy team, a fourth place radio team, and a state qualifying dairy cattle team. When I say people were shocked at the district event that Patton was scoring, and scoring top three in events no less, proud was an understatement. I have a passion for Agriculture and a passion for FFA. My goal is to coach a State winning LDE parliamentary procedures team and a State winning Dairy cattle judging team, and I know that i am capable if given the correct resources and administrative support!
