I am a young creative who's always ready to take on a challenge. I am a CEO of my own film business, "Director's Eye", and I have had two internships involving team work, discipline, and organizational skills. I have learned so much from these programs, that I am now ready to implement my new high skillset into my next job as a committed High School student!
I started my film business "Director's Eye" in 2020 during the pandemic. I used this time , when most people were isolated at home, to perfect my craft for my passion of filmmaking. Ever since then, I have collaborated with amazing people such as Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Chance the Rapper and most recently completed my first short film. Running this business, beginning at 13 years old, has taught me a lot about dedication, having great problem solving skills, and knowing how to get the job done.
I worked as a writer and assistant camerawoman on two youth-led short film projects through the One Summer Chicago teen job program. I assisted the camera operator by collecting different items they needed, organizing their workstation, as well as also stepping in when needed to collect footage for my team members on a busy set.
I was an intern for Chance the Rapper's organization, Social Works. I assisted the Executive Team and worked closely alongside the nine other interns to help put together their 2022 Spring Fashion. I was on planning calls with my team for three months, organized different areas of the set, as well as captured footage of the fashion show which then premiered at Cinema Chatham Movie Theater and online.
Black Girls Film Camp, is a non-profit organization focused on helping young Black Girls across the country achieve their dreams of becoming a filmmaker. Selected as 1 out of 10 girls, from 8,000 applications, I am a 2023 Alumni where I created my first short film "A Thin Line Between Black and White". My film screened in many film festivals including "The All American High School Film Festival" in Time Square in NYC and at the "Black Harvest Film Festival" here in Chicago. I am also the first Teen on Board of Directors for this organization, helping make decisions for the upcoming cohort, and coming up with idea on how it will continue impacting young aspiring Black Girl filmmakers all across the country.
I am Vice President of the Tau Psi Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated Youth Auxiliary Chicago Chapter where I attend different meetings learning a lot about sisterhood, and giving back to the community, while also learning the history of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Being a part of this program since I was four as a "Pearlette", now being 16 and the Vice President of the "Archonettes", I help give back to my younger sisters below me, and instill in them the confidence and importance of giving back to our community as it has been instilled in me.
I was recently selected to be a part Global Glimpse Study Abroad Program, where I will get the chance to travel to Costa Rica and give back to local communities in that country. Being selected as 1 of 200 students across the state, community service is something I live for, and I definitely am looking forward to this trip in the new year!!
