06.2021 - 01.2023
At OPSC, my job responsibilities were the same as those of PACU and the Main OR that are listed below
Only difference lies with level of care patients of OPSC need in contrast to the Main OR and PACU
I was still in charge of maintaining airways, ensuring OR sterility, ensuring patient safety, explaining discharge planning, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort to patients; however, patients seen in this environment were not critical, did not require transfer to another area of the hospital and were able to go home within an hour of being in recovery in most cases
As a nurse at OPSC, the pace of the environment is faster and more efficient in order to meet needs of various cases and specialties performed here
This required ability to be more flexible in regard to ability to circulate different specialties, in contrast to the Main OR where you were typically only circulating one specific specialty.
Registered Nurse/ Mercy/St. Francis Hospital/Operating Room
Mercy St. Francis
08.2021 - 02.2022
This PRN position was taken from August 2021 – February 2022
I was hired as an Perioperative nurse and was used to Pre-op, circulate, and recover patients after surgical procedures
Most cases I was called to work were GI related procedures such as upper endoscopies or colonoscopies
I left this job due to OR manager leaving for another position, I was nearing the end of clinical rotations, and felt I could not commit to giving the OR time needed to be there as a productive member of their team
Responsibilities and duties were identical to ones listed for PACU and Main OR for BRMC.
