COMSEC Responsibility Officer

  • Serves as Command Representative on COMSEC matters at a Brigade level, directs and monitors the COMSEC holdings of all subordinate units
  • Supports the receipt, custody, issue, safeguarding, accounting for, and, when necessary, the destruction or COMSEC material
  • Performed Field Tamper Recovery (FTR), upgrading cryptographic device firmware, and ensuring the interoperability of firmware versions between enterprise encryptions
  • Developed a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and guidance on policies, equipment and software, for customer requirements ensuring regulations, policies and military standards
  • Knowledge of the General Dynamics TACLANE line of In-Line Network Encryptors (INE), to include the KG-175A, KG-175D, KG-250X, KG-175F and KG-175GM
  • Responsible for generation and distribution of electronic COMSEC keys, documents and perform key destruction in accordance with National Security Agency (NSA) guidelines
  • Programming and operating approved key fill devices, including KIK-13, AN/CYZ-10 and AN/PYQ-10(C)
  • Conducted semi-annual COMSEC training and EAP training per AFMAN 17-1302-0, attachment 13
  • Providing appropriately cleared personnel to act as a COMSEC Responsible Officer to perform the following activities: Add and removing keys, managing, destruction of COMSEC keys
  • Ensured equipment requirements with cryptographic vendors, NSA and military TMO services to repair, and dispose of obsolete and excess cryptographic equipment
  • Provides training and technical guidance to COMSEC managers and hand receipt holders
  • Maintain 100% accountability of all accountable COMSEC item
