With my experience working in different types of communities, including Infinity Dance KC, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, and the Park Hill Clothing Center, I believe I would be a fit and effective member of Sigma Psi Zeta!
I have volunteered many times at the St. Mary's Soup Kitchen with church members. We prepare and serve lunch and dessert for the homeless in the area.
I have danced at Infinity Dance KC since 7th grade and competed with them through my senior year of high school. While I was dancing there, I assisted many teachers in their dance classes. This includes children from 3 years old all the way to middle school children. Additionally, I have taught many classes for kids spanning from 3 years old to high school aged children.
While I was still a student in the Park Hill School District, I helped shop and sort supplies for the annual socks and underwear drive. Additionally, throughout the year I sorted donated clothes. Since I have graduated from Park Hill, I now volunteer at shopping days.
I absolutely love babysitting and do so frequently during my free time in the summer and on weekends. I have babysat for many children, including those of family friends, teachers, and family members.
I had to fulfill 50 hours of volunteering within the Park Hill District as a member of the A+ Scholarship Program. I volunteered numerous times to be an assistant at elementary schools during lunch and recess. Additionally, I helped multiple teachers in their summer school classrooms. This includes creating my own art curriculum for a summer school class and teaching it.
Positive Attitude: Many situations require positive attitudes, especially when that might not be reciprocated back to you I learned that even in times of stress, such as busy times at the soup kitchen or clothing center, having a positive attitude overall makes for a better environment
Teamwork and Collaboration: As a competitive dancer, I had to collaborate with my team daily to ensure we improved and did well at competitions Dance not only involved people of my age I also had to dance and teach preschool and elementary aged kids, which helped me learn teamwork and collaboration across different age groups
Organized and Efficient: My many years of babysitting has taught me the importance of being organized and efficient When I babysit, I ensure the house is the same or cleaner than how the parents left it, all while making sure I pay attention to the children and their safety
