I have developed proficiency in SPSS for research and gained experience in writing thesis proposals and articles during my university studies. I actively listen to clients and provide informed responses to their inquiries. By employing various assessment tools, such as observational techniques and case histories, I evaluate clients' biological, psychological, physical, and social issues comprehensively. Based on psychological evaluations, I create and explain tailored treatment plans. Additionally, with the client's consent, I collaborate with psychologists, physicians, psychiatrists, and educators to discuss their challenges and explore treatment options.
Completing my role as a behavior technician equipped me with essential skills that enhanced my professional development in behavioral health. I gained an understanding of and applied principles of behavioral analysis to assess and modify behaviors, and I tracked and recorded client behaviors accurately to monitor progress. I learned to implement individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals and improved my verbal and non-verbal communication for effective interactions with clients, families, and team members. I developed crisis intervention techniques to manage challenging behaviors safely and cultivated empathy and compassion to build supportive relationships, especially with clients facing developmental or behavioral challenges. Additionally, I gained cultural competence to respect diverse backgrounds, collaborated effectively with a multidisciplinary team, and enhanced my problem-solving abilities for quick assessment and strategy development. These skills were applicable in various settings, including schools, clinics, and home-based services.
By collecting data from the clients I worked with, I investigated the relationship between psychological well-being, exam anxiety, and study habits, and I wrote a dissertation proposal on this topic. In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I collected information to study what people who do not leave the house do to protect themselves physically and mentally, and I analyzed the effects, resulting in a scientific study.
I have gained experience working with different age groups. I had the opportunity to further develop and carry forward the skills I gained in my first internship. Additionally, recognizing the tendency of high school students to develop unhealthy habits, I organized interactive activities, including presentations and workshops, to raise awareness about addictions and other harmful behaviors.
During my psychological counseling and guidance internship, I developed essential skills that enhanced both my professional effectiveness and personal growth. I improved my active listening skills, allowing me to understand client concerns attentively, and I cultivated empathy to foster a supportive environment. I enhanced my communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, which were crucial for effective interactions. I learned assessment techniques for evaluating client needs, as well as intervention strategies that included various therapeutic approaches. My crisis management skills prepared me to handle emergencies, while my understanding of ethical decision-making ensured that I adhered to professional standards. I gained cultural competence, allowing me to tailor my counseling approaches to diverse backgrounds. Additionally, I engaged in reflective practice to promote self-evaluation and continuous improvement, and I developed documentation skills to maintain accurate client records. Together, these competencies formed a comprehensive foundation for my successful career in counseling.
