Volunteer

I started my volunteer work in 2008 at Parker Elementary, in my daughter's Kindergarten class.

I was asked to help around the class because my nephew was in that classroom and was very hyperactive. The teacher said she needed an extra set of hands and asked if I was interested in volunteering, which I accepted immediately. After the2008-2009 school year ended, the principal asked if i was interested in volunteering not only in the classroom but also around the whole school. I went through the proper screening before I could start.

My duties around the school included supervising in the playground(yard), cafeteria, bathroom breaks, etc.. In and around the office helped with answering phones, collecting attendance, making copies, distribute supplies to classrooms and other staff. Supported with translating in Parent/Teacher conferences and Parent Groups.

I was in charge of organizing school events and fundraisers.

For 9 years I was in the School Site Council (SSC) as the Chairperson.

My volunteering ended in 2017 when my daughter was promoted to High School.
