My entire life is an experience of dialogue and learning. Education is the key virtue I embrace and aspire to, and this is largely imparted on me by my parents, who are both skilled educators. I love to work in a team, and have great confidence in my ability ot foster relationships and communicate clearly. The value of discipline and attention to detail are paramount to my work, and are traits I cherish in others as well. Through the experience of college, I have learned the depth of my love for the disciplines of theatre and sociology, and I intend to keep learning from and to teach these two disciplines to the best of my ability.
I synthesized diverse volumes of information, identifying key patterns relevant to research objectives in books, essays, articles, and poems. A large amount of this work utilized ZOOM technology over summer periods, letting me develop distance research skills. To this end, I gathered and organized information for research purposes in dialogue with Dr. Garcia and community leaders. We collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to conduct comprehensive studies and generate valuable insights.
I attended, participated, and contributed to monthly staff meetings addressing resident, hall, and community needs. This also involved 3-6 programs a semester, engaging the student community and offering enrichment. Exhibited great skill with arts and crafts materials, for programming and decoration. I served as an approachable resource for distressed residents seeking advice or assistance with emotional or academic issues, and worked with my team of fellow RAs, to ensure success. I also immediately responded to complaints, incident reports, and maintenance requests.
I regularly led teams of up to 4-5 members, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and efficiency as we built sets for the school shows. I proficiently operated power tools, such as circular saws, drills, and sanders, to construct and finish sets. This involved physical demands, consistently lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment and materials, often working in challenging environments. In maintaining positive environments, I coordinated times with production teams to meet tight deadlines, often working extended hours, including evenings and weekends. In the program, we set and met high standards of quality, safety, and aesthetic appeal.
I implemented caring teaching strategies to accommodate students aged 5-13, resulting in increased engagement and understanding. This involved collaborating with 3-6 other teaching artists, who I found great rapport with each week. The hands-on activities which correlated with formal lesson plans involved arts and crafts, script building and book reading, recess play, and general communication in support of student progress. This work focused my attention on patience, and the importance of remaining open as a teacher.
Tirelessly organized individual boxes of product to maintain store visual appeal, engage customers, and promote specific merchandise. I extensively handled cash transactions efficiently while adhering to company cash handling policies, ensuring accuracy in all financial exchanges, and incited customers to purchase reward cards. This work involved long-term customer contact, as helping repeat older costumers were major factors of the daily routine.
