Summer Intern

Altoona Water Authority

  • Performed general maintenance on the Authority's eight reservoirs, five water treatment plants, two sewage treatment plants and fifteen water towers
  • Finished summer with the Authority's in-house engineer in design of water and sewer line replacement projects
  • During my time with the AWA the Westerly Waste Treatment Plant started to turn their biosolids into a profit
  • In a year they produce 655 tons of dry biosolids and now the AWA started selling the dried biosolids to farmers in the area.

  • Aid with sign manufacturing and electrical design for sign layout
  • Manufacture signs for petroleum companies including Gulf, BP, and Shell using inhouse programs and Auto-CAD to make signs and face designs for signs
  • Developed blueprints to lay out wiring and electrical for the pricer faces dealing with the LED lights and power supplies
  • Made sign face blueprints using a bill of materials, and when the price was higher than the proposed price plan I would talk with the design team and figure out how to cut costs effectively
  • Made sign faces and watched the manufacturing process take place.
