I have lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan all my life and I enjoy being able to incorporate nature and being outside while providing therapeutic activities. I have gone to environmental schools all my life, kindergarten through college, and have learned to enjoy being outside as a form of self-care and adventure. I heavily incorporate this form of 'treatment' at my current job at Wedgwood Christian Services. I have found that going outside or doing something active throughout my shift really helps my clients return to baseline and get through their day easier when moving their bodies and getting out in the sun. Creating a schedule for my clients that allows me and my staff to try new things while at the same time providing a teaching moment, is crucial to learning and implementing new and positive leisure skills.
