Community Development

  • Community is a large part of my life and I wish to further empower voices that are not always heard first or at all. While in college, I orchestrated a Black Lives Matter LGBTQ+ march alongside my peers and collaborated with Black Lives Matter organizers in Tampa, FL. Together, we facilitated the creation of multiple LGBTQ+ safe spaces as a response to the political turbulence that followed George Floyd's unfortunate passing. These safe spaces aimed to protect, center, and amplify black queer voices within the university and Tampa's general public.
  • After relocating back to New York in Fall 2021 due to Covid-19, I began supervising and mentoring individuals on parole looking to find their place in society once again. Our clients at Community Care Team are predominantly minorities and deserve an adequate opportunity to integrate back into their communities. Being a part of two disenfranchised communities myself, it is both empowering and rejuvenating to work in tandem with one's own community and peers.
