  • Member of the Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma Resource Management Plan IDT and responsible for the implementation of the Texas Resource Management Plan which serves as a guide for how the Department of the Interior will manage surface and mineral resources in Texas

  • Currently working with the NMSO outdoor recreation planner (ORP) lead and other field office ORP leads to create a recreation management plan that addresses planned future uses that include hunting, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping, and incorporating and implementing appropriate interpretive services
  • Initiated and continuously working on the required Cross Bar SRMA Travel and Transportation Management Plan, Sign Plan, and RAMP
  • Utilizing scientific analysis to consistently identifying the impacts of outdoor recreation on the overall landscape and the native species that inhabit the Cross Bar
  • Coordinate recreation program activities with other Federal, state, and local government offices, private organizations, and the public
  • Creation and oversight for the current outdoor recreation permit program on the Cross Bar
  • Coordinate with the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau to assist with fundraising efforts with The Great Outdoors Fund, a non-profit organization that anticipates raising over $10 million to directly support the development of the Cross Bar SRMA
  • Authored the first ever BLM Memorandum of Understanding for a fundraising initiative with a non-profit with a goal of raising over $10 million for BLM site specific development in which the BLM HQ will use as an example for other field offices with fundraising needs
  • Authoring various environmental assessments and developing an environmental impact statement, Cross Bar policies, cooperative agreements with colleges and universities and memorandums of understanding with federal and state agencies
  • Surveyed and marked over 30 miles of multi-use trails of which 18 miles have been constructed, with help from volunteers, and will be incorporated into the new Cross Bar Master Plan
  • Writing and submitting budget proposals to federal and non-profit organizations for projects on the Cross Bar
  • Initiating and leading public meetings that require input from the public (e.g., BLM Resource Management Plan, public access, and general Cross Bar Environmental Assessment initiatives)
  • Coordinating with the OFO Budget Officer for maintaining the budget for the Cross Bar including individually funded projects (BPSS), generic ops, labor costs, vehicle costs, and travel

As a result, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA) process covered multiple wells that were proposed in similar ecological sites rather than creating a single NEPA EA document for each individual well.
  • Restructured the BLM oil and gas field maintenance plan to create more stringent road maintenance and trash clean-up policies which required meeting with executives from the oil and gas industry and federal and state officials
  • Managed the two most successful lease sales in Carlsbad and Farmington, NM in which 20,000 acres of mineral estate were leased for over $100 million
  • Managed over 200 protest letters and emails, the most ever received for a lease sale in BLM NM State Office history, and met with concerned citizens in the Rio Chama Watershed to discuss their concerns over hydraulic fracturing and surface disturbance as a result of oil and gas exploration and development
  • Created and implemented department wide instruction memorandums (IM’s) for geothermal exploration and development and helped manage geothermal leases for the US Forest Service in Santa Fe, New Mexico
