Most of my Career has been in Health care, I started out in sales early on in life at 17 years old, my first job was at the local Mc Donalds, then from there at 19 years old to Wal-Mart, I worked with Wal-Mart for 10 years in Customer Service, I enjoyed the work but it was not my passion, although Customer Service is one of my strong suits. I applied for a job at EAMC Laboratory as a Phlebotomist , started the job 05/10/1995, I collected blood samples, did Cross Matches for the Blood Bank, also did Drug Screens for Outside Companies for Employment and Parole Purposes. I worked in the lab for 4 years till 11/21/1999, then I transferred to Labor and Delivery at EAMC as a OB Tech, assisting the OB Doctors with Cesarean Sections , and Tubal Legations. During my tour in Labor and Delivery at EAMC, I attended Lpn School at SUSCC , graduated in 2002, My first job out of Nursing School was at Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette, AL, I Worked at Lafayette Nursing Home for 14 years. I worked both jobs for a while, then I decided to leave Lafayette. I worked in Labor and Delivery for 5 more years from 1998 to 2007, In 2007 I transferred to Oak Park Nursing Home/ EAMC, I worked at Oak Park for 14 years, from 2007- 2020, in between that I worked with Lee County BOE, as a School Nurse at Beauregard High School, from grades K-12, and mainly with the Special Ed Department, I did enjoy working with the Students, I worked with the School System from 08/2009- 06/2015. I decided to leave the school system after 6 years, I wanted to further my education, and during that time I was the unit Manager of a 60 Bed Unit at Arbor Springs for 6 years, then I moved to the Rehabilitation unit, taking care of surgery patients for 4 years for a total of 10 years. I work for Home Care of East Alabama as a field nurse for 2 years and a scheduler for 4 years, I enjoyed meeting residents and families in their homes. I worked for the company a total of 6 years., I am currently working at Diversicare in Lanett, it is a nursing home and a Rehab facility, I am a charge nurse.
I started out as a lead cart nurse, I passed medication, compiled care plans, associated with Doctors, made appointments for residents, associated with pharmacy concerning the resident’s medication, also communicated with families and sponsors. I deligated tasks to the Care assistance. In March of 2024 a new position was created “ Assistant Wellness Director “ I was offered the job, I accepted it, the job in tailed running three communities Magnolia, Camillia and Azalea along side the DON, as the ADON I was housed at Magnolia so I managed the CA’s And LPN’s, I made the schedule for nurses and Care assistants. I did admission assessments, 30 day reassessments , compiled care plans and updated care plans, managed the legal and state concerns of Assisted Living facilities.
I am a very easy going person, I love what I do, I love Nursing. Gardening is for pass time, I like to read magazines to see what is new and current, new styles, same for watching television, I like to stay in the know.
