
Akhirah Avant is a dynamic educator with a proven track record across three districts in the greater Houston area, backed by data demonstrating success in using modern instructional strategies to invigorate student learning. She is skilled at fostering student engagement and implementing data-driven strategies, resulting in over 5% growth in student performance across two EOC categories in Spring Branch, as well as an 80%+ new teacher retention and growth rate. She is adept at mentoring staff and adapting teaching methods to diverse learning needs, using research-backed texts, such as Get Better Faster, Teach Like a Champion, and Data-Driven Instruction. Outside the classroom, she has organized numerous extracurricular and community activities through volunteering and field trips to broaden the horizons of inner-city students across all three districts.
